97 Girls Get Two Wins in Houston

Without their regular GK

TSCH 97G Richardson got back to winning ways at the South Texas PLW games this past weekend with wins over Eclipse 97G and Lonestar 97G.

Despite travelling to play without a recognized goalkeeper, the team produced two solid performances to claim their first PLW wins of the season. In the first game against the Eclipse, with Rachael VanFosson playing as the goalkeeper,  TSCH took the lead through a great Riley Graham finish in the first half. In the face of a spirited early second half performance from Eclipse, TSCH controlled the game and despite creating many more scoring opportunities late in the game, eventually held out for the win.

In the second game on Sunday morning, against a strong Lonestar team, TSCH again produced a great team display to take the points. The goals came late in the game both from Camrie Hurst. The first was the result of a great passing move started by Madi Ohman in the back, through Riley Graham with Camrie finishing well after being played through the Lonestar defense. The second came from a short corner cleverly worked by Katie Lopez & Kay Chapman with the final cross being finished to the net by Camrie for her second of the game. Feature of this game was the outstanding performance of Abbey Rutherford in the TSCH midfield. Again Rachael Van Fosson played in goals and had her second shutout !!!

Coach Richardson was very pleased with the performance of the team in both games over the weekend. “The players reacted very positively to practices in the past 2 weeks following our first PLW games and it showed in their individual work rate and team performance this weekend. Every player contributed to the wins and there were some great individual performances as well. We made some adjustments to our formation and the players were very comfortable with the changes. They got the rewards for their efforts in both games this weekend.”

The team heads to Springfield on Saturday next (Sept 17th )for 2 games before returning to PLW action in Dallas on the weekend of Sept 24th & 25th.

Great job ladies!!
