97 Girls PLW Update

The TSCH 97 Girls Richardson returned to PLW action over the past weekend with 2 games in Dallas. In the first game on Saturday morning ,TSCH 97G  tied Sting 97 Blue 0-0 in an entertaining game. Despite creating several scoring chances they failed to find the net but ended with their 3rd game in league play without conceding a goal. The game saw the welcome return to playing of Laruen Parker after summer surgery on her knee. Whilst bemoaning the lack of goals Coach Richardson was happy with the effort of the players. There were good performances from Bri Demuth, Kay Chapman, Camrie Hurst, Abby Rutherford and Riley Graham.

On Sunday, for game 2, TSCH 97G played Ft Worth FC on a windy Dallas morning. Playing into the wind in the first half TSCH 97G dominated play in the back and in midfield but again struggled to score. They went behind midway through the half after failing to clear their lines at the back. Despite the setback, TCSH 97G continued to move the ball well but the scoring opportunities just did not fall for them. Playing with a stiff breeze in the 2nd half, and switching to a more offensive 3-4-3 formation, the girls were rewarded for their hard work with a goal from Camrie Hurst (her 3rd of the PLW season) to tie the game up. Again TSCH 97 created scoring opportunities but could not get the 2nd goal. A last minute chance from a corner was saved on the line by the Ft Worth keeper. Best for the TSCH 97 girls in game 2 were Tiffany Jones, Hannah Arning Camrie Hurst and a player of the game performance in the midfield from Abby Rutherford. Rachel Van Fosson continued to add to her goalkeeping skills with another fine game between the posts.   Coach Richardson was happy with the 2 performances overall. “ We tried some new formations and some players in new positions over the weekend and I was very happy with the work rate and effort that the players displayed. We are getting more confident and we will continue to get better with each game.” TSCH 97G Richardson are 2-2-2 in PLW league play and are currently 3rd in the league standings. TSCH 97 G Richardson’s next PLW game is against TSCH 97G Killingsworth on 10/06/11.
