Tulsa SC Looks for 5th Consecutive Win

 

TULSA - Tulsa SC continues its winning streak after a 5-1 win over SouthStar FC last Saturday. Tulsa SC is set to host in-state rival Oklahoma City FC in Tulsa SC’s final match of the 2022 Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) season. The two sides have had a back-and-forth battle since Tulsa SC’s inaugural season in 2018. With a win over Oklahoma City FC exactly one week ago, Tulsa SC now leads the all-time series with a 3W-2L-2D record and looks to score another win tonight.

The last meeting between Oklahoma City FC and Tulsa SC resulted in a 4-0 win in favor of Tulsa SC in Mustang, OK. Tulsa SC was able to get its first goal of the match when, in the 28’ minute, the ball would be deflected off an Oklahoma City FC player, resulting in an own goal. Tulsa SC saw its next opportunity in the 36’ minute when Megan Haines placed the ball in the bottom left of the goal to put Tulsa SC up 2-0 at half. Tulsa SC was then able to tally two more goals by way of Zoe McCabe in the final minutes of the match to give Tulsa SC the 4-0 win.

With last Saturday’s win, Tulsa SC has now climbed to the top of the Northern Division standings with 13 points through 7 matches. DKSC sits in 2^nd with 13 points throughout 6 games. FC Dallas moves to 3rd with 12 points from 6 matches. Oklahoma City FC sits in 4^th with 3 points through 5 games, and SouthStar FC rounds out the Northern Division with 3 points through 6 total games. Tulsa SC needs to secure a win and hope that FC Dallas and DKSC lose/tie and tie/lose their final two matches to secure back-to-back Red River Northern Division titles.
