Tulsa SC Earns Tie On Road In Season Opener

TULSA - Tulsa SC was back in action on Wednesday night for the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) 2022 season opener. Tulsa SC played its first road match of the season as they took on league newcomer DKSC Badtop from Dallas-Fort Worth, TX. Tulsa SC was the first to have a look at goal in the first two minutes of the match when forward Bri Amos took a shot at goal that would sail over the top post. DKSC found their first opportunity on goal in the sixth minute with a shot on goal that eventually skimmed wide of the outside post. Tulsa SC would find their next opportunity to take the lead when Bri Amos pursued another attack on the DKSC defense, but this time the shot trailed wide of the post. Tulsa SC would head into halftime nil-nil with DKSC.

The start of the second half would see DKSC with an aggressive attack as they had a close opportunity to score in the 46th minute, but the ball would deflect off the crossbar for a Tulsa SC goal kick. In the 48th minute, Tulsa SC was awarded the first free-kick of the match at the 55-yard line but would be unable to create an attack as it went out for a Tulsa SC corner. In the 54th minute, it was DKSC who was able to notch one in the back of the net to make the game 1-0. The game would go on for another ten minutes until the 64th minute, when Bri Amos would put one in the back of the goal to tie the game back up to a score of 1-1. Tulsa SC found a burst of energy as the minutes ticked away, trying to put another one in to secure the win, but all chances fell short, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Tulsa SC will head home with 1 point in the season opener vs. DKSC Badtop.

"It took us a little bit to settle down, with it being the first game. But, we came out strong in the 2nd half, despite conceding first, and really took the game to them. It’s a great sign to see our ladies fight back after going down 1-0 to tie the game up and come home with a point. Great first game against a strong opponent." -Coach Aaron Crouch
